WOO-HOO!!!

WOO-HOO!!!

My Interim Security Clearance is a Go, and I’m locked in for a seat in the class that begins on the 12th! No more of this slacking… Sometime today I’ll find out the details of being transferred from Charlie Company into Delta Company, which likely means I’ll have to move out of the room I’ve been staying in (bummer, that… my roomie’s a decent joe).

Either way, this is the best news I’ve had in a while. More later, as the situation develops.

It’s Been a Slow Week For Me

It’s been a slow week for me.

Monday, I was tasked for a road-guard detail; had to report to the Orderly Room at 04:30 to get ready to stand at an intersection and make sure none of the runners get hit by any cars. I get there, and learn that the detail has been cancelled, so I find myself back in my room snoozing while everyone else is doing PT.

Tuesday, they actually have something for me to do. Myself and six privates get detailed to move a lot of furniture in the classroom building, setting up a space to be used for a study-hall. That occupied my morning, but in the afternoon, once again, I’m back in my room, napping.

Wednesday, I went grocery shopping at the commissary, got a haircut, and generally slouched off most of the day.

Thursday was fun - residents of Missouri got to have lunch with a VIP. Some guy who’s a staffer for Sen. ‘Kit’ Bond (R), doing field research for his work on the Defense Appropriations Committee. Nice guy, asked some astute questions… The high point for me, though, was when he asked us if WE had any questions. I fired off “How’s the transition with Senator-Elect McCaskill going?”…. you should’ve seen the guy’s facial expression.
Take note, people; anytime you ask a Republican “How are the Democrats doing?” you’re in for a fun time. He dodged the question fairly well, and I didn’t press him on the topic, but the facial expression was priceless.

Friday, once again, I spent most of the day catching up on my sleep, and cleaning my room.

Here it is, Saturday, and I’m doing my email while the rest of the company is sitting in classrooms, studying for a test on Monday. Now, my time to be overscheduled and harried will come soon-enough, but for now, life is pretty slack. Missouri is covered with snow and slush, enough to cancel Karen’s Bowling Party, and down here in Arizona it’s 65 degrees and sunny.

That’s all to report, for now; another week closer to seeing y’all for the holidays.
Take care,
