Official Orders Received

Official orders received today, reporting date to Ft. Sam Houston is 04 MAY 2007, sixteen weeks of training, ending 28 AUG 2007, no word yet on my follow-on assignment.

Trying to find a positive light to view all this in… It’s common knowledge that the Medic is usually the happiest troop in the platoon.
Do you know why?
‘Cos nobody wants to be the guy who pissed the Medic off… that’s why.

A Quick Update

A quick update…

As it’s taken more than 120 days in the process of me to get my Security Clearance granted (a few of you know exactly why this is happening ), I am being forced into retraining into a different job specialty. I was given a few choices to pick from, thankfully, and am currently awaiting the orders that will send me to Ft. Sam Houston to begin training as a 68W, Combat Medic.

Meanwhile, I continue the bureaucratic process of submitting paperwork to get the clearance granted, and can expect resolution on it within 14 months (the agency that handles final clearances is heavily backlogged, and I had a lot of additional information that needed to be submitted to explain a few unusual circumstances and former associates). Once I reach the two-year mark in my current enlistment, I have the option to reenlist with some leverage to negotiate the job change to Intel Analyst as was originally intended, but for now… it’s gonna’ be Combat Medic.

It is what it is.
